MG TD TF 1500 - What were these holes for?
Looking under my dash, I note there are a set of four holes on each side of the tool box. They are identical in spacing. I plugged them with plastic plugs years back.

Bruce TD-4834 has them as well. But don’t know what they are for. I used two of the holes on the left side to mount the turn signal relay box when I installed a new harness Bill Chasser TD-4834 |

Thanks George. So it appears there is not a good answer. So, I will ask another question. From the post George listed, we know TD 3938, 4139, and 4834 have these holes. Do any of the later TD's also have these? |

Bruce, TD 26711 has them. Tim |

My TD23816 has these holes. Could these same boxes have been used on other model cars( maybe even NON MGs ) that needed holes in the spots? |

I believe my TF has some like that, will check this afternoon when I am out there. Peter |

Note whenever you are questioning the authentication of whole: If the hole has smooth edges it's probably original, but may not have a particular purpose for your car do to model changes or perhaps use for another car of the same part. If you can see any signs of scoring in the hole and the surfaces look a bit irregular, its a good chance that that hole was drilled for some modification. Factory holes in sheet metal were generally stamped and not drilled. |
