MG TD TF 1500 - Windscreen defroster
Here's an interesting item. I never knew they existed! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lucas-12V-Windscreen-Defroster-MG-TA-TC-TD-TF-Morgan-Jaguar-Singer-Morris-Minor-/351316216187?hash=item51cc14097b Regards Declan |

Yep, there were many makers of these back in the day. I have one in black Bakelite and my son borrows it to defrost his early Miata's hardtop window! |

Here in the states, this type was very popular in the 30s and 40s. Even auto dealers sold them as an accessory. They were hard wired to a switch. Most of them were 6 volt. You actually looked through them. PJ

When I was a kid, my mom drove a VW. There was ALWAYS a full roll of paper towels handy to squeegy the windshield dry. ...... |

The VW I had was the only car I ever owned that an ice scraper was needed on the inside! LOL! PJ |

Any ideas on the wattage ? I would assume to be effective they need at least 150 Watts which could be quite a drain on the battery/generator Rgds Mike |

My folks had an Olds 98 that I drove in high school. I t leaked so bad that in rainy Oregon there was a lake inside all winter. My friends soon learned to lift their feet at every stop sign to avoid the coming tidal wave! Kirk |

I had an old 71 Volvo which had both problems... no defrost AND holes in the floor. I remember I had to let it run for 10 minutes before two small clear spots would appear in the rear window. And I patched floor holes using aluminum sheet and roofing tar. |
