MG TD TF 1500 - Windshield Blocks

When I took my Windshield apart, there were multiple pieces of the metal blocks used at the top where the bolts come through.

I was able to put them back together, but they appear to be made of unubtanium as no one has replacements. It will not be hard to cast new ones out of lead, I also may have them done on a 3D printer out of plastic.

Horst Szhack says there were three of the three slot blocks. One on the right, one on the left, and one in the center, but I believe he is talking about a later TD with the wiper motor in the center.

LaVern emailed me and feels the one in the center is split in half to cover the two bolt holes on either side of the center on the early TD with the motor on the side.

Anyone have pictures of the blocks for the early TD?
Bruce Cunha

I thought the broken one was for both sides of the idler. I cannot remember if there was anything at the wiper motor.

Oh. So I had them backwards. Figures. 1/2 for each of the two screws and a full set for the idler.
Christopher Couper

Ok, that would clairfy why I have three. One for the wiper motor, one for the other wiper, and two halves for the screws.

I am having some made on a 3D printer, but I am also going to experiment in casting them in lead.

Does anyone have a reason that lead would not work for the blocks?
Bruce Cunha

I would think lead would be OK. Pot metal originally.
Christopher Couper

Have not tried casting pot metal. I will check it out and see if it is within my abilities.

You might take a look at this:

(Small amounts are inexpensive, scroll down for 1lb ingots. You can melt these on the stove, I would pick something that melts at a temp slightly above boiling water!)
