MG TD TF 1500 - Windshield Blocks
When I took my windshield apart, the metal blocks the are around the wiper motor and the wiper blade stalks were broken into pieces. Gluing them did not hold, and I cannot find any replacements.
I glued the pieces onto a metal shim and made molds of them out of plaster of paris. I then filled the mold with lead. The original material appears to be a pot metal, but the lead should be a reasonable replacement. The first picture is of the original one glued to a metal plate. The last is the finished product. ![]() ![]() |

Here is the mold. I used pam sprayed on the blocks as a mold release.

Back in the toy soldier days we used smoke/soot from a burning candle to coat the mold as a release agent. You could also shape from a block of brass. Regards, Tom |

Those are also good ideas. I assume there are a few ways of doing this |

Nice job making new ones but ... I would not sweat it. My blocks have been broken since the early 60's. The screws will hold them in place. |

I have only one that was intact in the windshields I’ve removed. I made my replacements out of rubber belting material |
