MG TD TF 1500 - Windshield Lower Rubber

Where is the rubber supposed to end? Just inside the stanchion base? Not much protection from rain if it ends too far in, but if that's where it ends, please let me know. As you know, my car was such a mess for correctness, I really have nothing to go on. Thanks, PJ

PJ I cut mine so that it was just a bit longer than the required distance & cut it to follow the line of the inside of the stanchion. When fitted it closes the gap completely. Cheers

Peter's description pretty well describes what I've done. It keeps the rain (yes, I drive inn the rain) from coming through by the stanchion. Bud

Thanks fellas, much appreciated. The rubber I bought came from Moss and was very easy to install. I laid one side in the groove and using the wood end of a 2" paint brush, of all things, with pressure on the top lip slide it along the groove and the rubber rolled right in with no lubrication. Now I need to get something to clean it up. PJ

I would leave it some time before any cutting.I have found modern rubber shrinks and will leave a gap.Enough water gets in without giving it even more chances.

Yes Ray, I'm going to leave it set for a while before doing any cutting, if any. Not sure how it came from the factory, but will check out The photos on the "original" TF that Chris posted. Thanks, PJ

Here's the supposedly original look. PJ

That's about how the seal on our TD windshield sits. Like Bud, our TD is driven in the rain and we have fond that it keeps all but the worst gully washers our of the interior. Cheers - Dave

PS. Last Saturday we drove to Tacoma and back (about 60 miles round trip) for our local T Register's anniversary meeting, most of the time in the rain and both my wife and I remained dry.
