MG TD TF 1500 - Windshield/Windscreen spacers
Does anyone have a source for the spacers that go inside the MG TD windshield/windscreen frame? Tim TD26711 |

Do you mean the two threaded brass sections on either side to secure the windscreen to its supports? Can't think of any other internals, apart from the top & bottom corner pieces. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Peter, they are the pot metal spacers that prevent the windscreen frame from collapsing where the bolts go through. Regards Tim ![]() |

From memory mine are molded into the frame Tim. Sorry But I don't have a pic. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Tim I would be sure the correct profile brass tube would be available, only a matter of "parting off" the required length/s in a lathe. Graeme |

I have some pieces of originals, will try to post a couple picts and maybe a dimensional trace later. Not molded into the frame and not round on at TD btw. As Tim says, they keep the screws/nuts, and also the wiper bearings from squashing the frame. George |

Rough tracing with dimensions. This would be easy for someone with a machine shop to make. One of the suppliers used to have these but appear to be gone now. George

Thanks George. I did find someone with some spacers. The dimensions should help others to recreate them if needed. Regards Tim |

I made my spacer from a solid piece of bakelite type material 15mm thick. |

As it turns out I did have a couple of pics in my archive. The top rail had been rechromed with them in situ which created the impression that they were part of the rail. Cheers Peter TD 5801 ![]() |
