MG TD TF 1500 - Wiper motor rebuilders

In checking archives, I found some wiper motor rebuilders, but email connections are no longer valid.
Is there anyone currently repairing or rebuilding these?

There are also a couple of good articles in places like TTT2, with detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to remove the old grease and rebuild the motor yourself. It's actually quite satisfying!

Rebuilding is easy - EXCEPT for the case where the armature or field coils are burned, which is quite common if the lubrication has hardened and the motor stalls. However, Vintage Supplies in the UK sells reasonable (but not great) replacement armatures.

I rewound my own armature...bought the wire, made a jig, in an hour...done..just don’t lose track for your winding count.

Tom,
I used to rewind the armatures and field coils on a reworked lathe specifically for rewinding.
The problem I always had was cutting the insulators. It would take me more time to do so than I could charge for. Also, the resistance shunt winding wire was impossible to solder.
I no longer do it for other people.

I called every auto electrician here in Sydney ages ago and none had either the skill or the will to rewind the armature. Cheers

When rebuilding the dash warning lights I had to repair brakes in the wire. Its probably NiChrome which oxidizes readily and rejects solder. WE used to silver plate the end of NiCr wire in a place where I once worked. I dont have a Silver tank so I made small, VERY small crimps, out of brass rod, for the warning lights.

Its been workin for 4 years now.

Just DIY. It was done in one afternoon including building the fixture/jig.

Thanks to all the mechanically skilled individuals who responded. I have successfully located a wiper motor rebuilder after some phone calls.

Tom Peterson can you email me off line. I have no idea how to do what you describe as an easy task. Is there some information somewhere on the jig required, the required number of turns and the gauge of the wire? I'd like to have a go. pjbm at bigpond dot com. Cheers
