MG TD TF 1500 - Wiper motor wrinkle paint
My first attempt at wrinkle paint, since I had the motor off anyway and it looked a bit battered. The first layer was not good, it did not wrinkle well. The secret for success is a warm surface (let it sit in the sun for some time), multiple layers of paint (must be thick enough to wrinkle well) and curing in the hot sun for at least a day. The paint is smooth right after spraying, it starts to wrinkle when it dries, constant heat supports that process. Rgds Mike ![]() ![]() |

That looks about as good as it gets. Great job! |

I repainted the face plate on the heater of my Morris Minor several years ago and it turned out nice. Regards Declan ![]() |

Looks good, Declan. How did you get the writing on the wrinkles? Rgds Mike |

Mike, I had rub-on stickers made. I think I sprayed over them with clear lacquer. Regards Declan |

I use a heat gun on low. Warm the piece and after painting, sweep the heat gun across at a distance of about 12 inches. I did the dash in my 67 B GT in powder coat. I found they can do wrinkle paint powder coat. It turned out really well. ![]() ![]() |
