MG TD TF 1500 - Wire Wheel Adapters
My TF has steel wheels but I do have a set of wires. I have been put off fitting them because of the costs of appropriate splined brake drums. I have seen adapters that fit onto steel wheel studs. Has anyone got experience of these? Jan T |

In the archives, these were discussed back in 2007, search for the phase wire wheel adaptors I believe they are relatively rare But I'm sure a machine shop could manufacture them. Steve |

Hi Steve, Go to the UK eBay site and search for "MG TD TF Front Hubs Bolt On". They are for sale for £160 the pair. The seller also has ones for the rear. Jan T |

My memory is lousy these days, but don't the adapters make the wheels stick out further in the wing area of a TD, or am I mistaken? I'd like wires on my TD, but... |

with stock offset wires they increase the track by about 1.25". A friend had them in the 80's. Did not look that good at the rear. Ray TF 2884 |

Thanks Ray, I assume that means overall track of 1.25", not at each side? |

Hello, I put my '52 TD on a complete MGA 4.3 to 1 rear axle and MGA front suspension and gained the following: a. Much more pleasant and quieter drive, higher top. b. Wire wheels c. Larger brakedrums d. Better looks as the car is lowered at the rear. If you want to know how it's done, please let me know. Erik |

L Karpman, yes 1.25 overall. Does not seem much but is obvious. Ray |
