MG TD TF 1500 - Workshop manual

There seem to be a number of people offering CD versions of the MG TF workshop manual.

Any recommendations?

I don't know about you, but I usually don't have my laptop by the car when I am working on something - I prefer to have the hard-copy original manual.

They appear frequently on eBay; don't buy the first one you see. Prices differ, but there are usually some inexpensive, original ones. There are also differences; get one that covers the TD and TF, with all the information.

Thanks Tom

But I will print it out and sit it beside me when working on the car. That way I don't get oil and dirty fingerprints all over an original and often expensive manual :)

There is a manual there in PDF.

Excellent stuff Peter. Almost everything I need, but the documents seem to be a bit sparse on anything to do with the indicators such as the flasher unit and the relay.

Were these fitted to export models?

The wiring diagram on page N23 is the one for a TF with turn signals.

Do you have a test lamp, it will be invaluable in troubleshooting this issue.

Are your stop lights working OK? That removes one of the hurdles if they are OK. The power for them enters the box at Pin 5 and leaves at Pins 3 & 7.

If I was a gambling man I would put a pint of Speckled Hen on it being a bad flasher. It is the most fallible, next bet would be the contacts in the relay box especially if it is clunking when you make a turn. Those contacts can be cleaned with a bit of emery after disconnecting the battery.

The clunking says you have a good A3-A4 fuse.

Good luck

Chris -

Congrats on your TF.

My vote is for a digital WSM.

I have a printed reproduction TD/TF WSM and two original TD/TF WSMs. I also have a digital TD/TF WSM in PDF format that is indexed for easy navigation.

I use the digital version on my laptop just about all the time. I print out the pages that apply to my task and get them as greasy as I want. I also have the same digital version plus other digital manuals on my iPhone and on my iPad. I always have my phone with me and usually the iPad, too.

FYI - photos in the original WSMs have more detail than the same ones in reproduction and digital versions that I have. An entire section was missing in my digital version. I scanned the section in an original manual and inserted into the PDF.
