MG TD TF 1500 - Wrinkle paint for wiper motor
Dose anyone have a source for the Lucas style black wrinkle paint for the wiper motor cover? Does the Rustolium wrinkle finish work - fond on Amazon? Is there something more authentic available? Rod |

I have found that the spray can wrinkle paint works ok if you have a heat gun. If you heat the paint right after spraying it on you can get a nice wrinkle finish. When I just sprayed it on and left it dry at ambient temperature it did not wrinkle uniformly or not at all in spots. Good luck Chuck |

I used Moss 220-570 black wrinkle paint with good results. Chuck's advice about heat is good. Joe |

Advance Discount Auto Parts carries it in Florida. You can check online for your local store, and get a 20% off coupon if you buy online and pick up. If you put it in the mid-day sun here it should wrinkle well. Or use the oven if wife not around..George |

The trick with that paint, is to put a coat on and another light coat about 1 min after that. Then let it dry. Comes out very even. I did it right on the car after covering EVERY thing around it. ![]() |

I have read that you get a better wrinkle finish if you warm the item before spraying. Dave H |

My pic looks much better in person. Had the shop lights up too high. And yes if you can "warm" the item, the better. |

I was disappointed with my first attempt. I left it in the sun for a few hours on a very hot summer day & got a poor result. M Grogan's effort is impressive & vindicates his approach. Pic of the NOS wiper motor I subsequently found & used is attached. I have a couple of spares both with unacceptable wrinkle finish. Cheers Peter TD 5801 ![]() |

I used VHT wrinkle paint restoring the heater facia plate on my Morris Minor and was very pleased with the results. Three heavy coats and it was done on a very warm day. Regards Declan ![]() |

I have found that using a cardboard box and a 100 watt lightbulb for heat does a very good job.. For small items I use a 2 ft. piece of 5" pvc drain pipe.Light bulb in bottom and item is dangled from top on a hanger. Then I put a cover over the top. A non greasy shop towel works fine. Sandy |
