MG TD TF 1500 - WTB date-coded generator early TD
Hello all. I'm looking for assistance in locating a correctly date coded generator for an earlier TD, chassis number TD2670. If anyone has something or knows of someone I should contact, please let me know. Thank you. |

What date would you like to have? |
W A Chasser |
Your car was built in July, 1950 so you would want one from early 1950 to be correct. I don't think I have any that early but I'll check next chance I get. |

For what it's worth my July 11 built TD has generator with date code 4-51 so that would put it in late January. Must have sat around in a warehouse or factory for a few months. |
John Quilter (TD8986) |
John: They only recorded the month-year. So 4-51 is April of 51. So 2-3 months newer than your car. Very normal lead time. |

W A Chasser as stated by others anything from early 1950 would do, May or earlier. Steve Simmons thanks for checking. Christopher Couper, thanks for the contact. I shot Jerry an email. |

No luck so far, still looking for a generator May 1950 or earlier from that year. Thanks. |

Gentlemen, Lucas used military date coding on it products. They needed more definition, so the first two numbers signify the week and the last two signifies the year. 4 51 does not denote April 1951, but rather the 4th week of 1951, late January 1951. This was explained to me by a Lucas engineer at Lotus Cars years ago. Cheers, Terry |
