MG TD TF 1500 - WTB matching suction chambers and pistons for SU H
I'm looking for a set of two matching suction chambers and pistons for SU H2 carburetors. Thanks Tim TD12524 |

Never mind, just bought a pair. Tim TD12526 |

Where did you find them, Tim, and do they pass the 'drop test' with similar rates of drop? |
Kevin McLemore |
I bought a set of carbs on eBay. Won't know the drop test results until I get them but the guy says they are original. The ones I have are like the rabbit and the tortise. Tim |

Soon, you're talking about a drop test with the chambers off of the carbs?? |
Steve Wincze |
Yeah, the John Twist method. I tried it with suction chambers and pistons I currently have and they weren't even close. Tim TD12524 |

Tim, did you check the vent holes in the damper caps? PJ |

Paul, yes I did. I changed them between carbs as well, same result. I received my new (used) carbs today and promptly broke one of the needles off at the piston face trying to remove it. Drilled it out and put in the new needle. I am happy to report that the new (used) pistons and suction chambers passed the John Twist test. As a matter of interest: I used a bore scope to look into the piston damper tubes. On the piston that was hard to lift I saw a narrower diameter ledge (extending about 3/32" from the bottom) that isn't present in the other piston damper tube. I have no idea why one would have the narrower diameter at the bottom and the other would not. Tim TD12524 |
