MG TD TF 1500 - WTB - TF Speedometer Needle
Any chance someone has parts from dead speedo? Looking for a needle for 1954 TF. This broke of from the shaft and it's impossible to get the remaining bit out. Can email me at: rscardamalia@gmail.com ![]() ![]() |

It looks like your problem is the shaft and the mechanism attached to it, not the needle. The remaining part of the shaft is too short to accept a needle. Don’t know if there is an easy/cheap fix. The shaft broke on my 1954 Chevy pickup speedo when I tried to remove the needle a few years ago. Luckily I had another speedo. Lonnie TF7211 TF681 |

The small end of the pointer mounting spindle broke off inside the needle and there's nothing to hold on to and I've been unsuccessful trying to drill it out. My problem is definitely the bit of the spindle stuck in the needle. Easiest fix seemed to be a spare needle. |

Are you sure the remaining shaft is long enough to accept a new needle? PJ |

I took a chance finding a similar dead speedo for a Sunbeam Alpine. Turns out the shaft was exactly the same as my TF so I now have a shaft that will work. Problem is still getting a needle!! |

I have a TF speedo needle for sale. Did you use the complete mechanism from the Sunbeam? That is, the aluminum disc , hairspring ect? If so, you need to be sure the turns per mile on the Sunbeam gauge is the same as on the TF. |

I did NOT use the complete mechanism, just the shaft and hairspring. Would be happy to discuss the needle you have. Want to do that offline? Direct email is: rscardamalia@gmail.com |
