MG TD TF 1500 - xpag mysteries

Hi

there are two things on my xpag machine (7763) where I dont know the purpose

1) After I removed the rear clinder head cover plate
I found a oily hole, which was covered by my sealing, which is different from the one you order by moss.

2) my oil pump has a pipe on the top with the oil pressure valve inside ( as I remember) This is also definite no standard ( sorry for the bad pic.)

has anyone an idea

sorry here is the second pic for question 1

The small plug is to close off the oil gallery to the rear pedestal, ( oil for rocker shaft )
In manafacture, 2 holes bored, 1 is across ( from oil feed external) other longitudanaly ( to pedestal ) where they cross is closed off to the outside by a grub screw.

the other bolt on the pump I have no clue, is it a bodge to fix a lost banjo? or a oil pressure control method.
mog

Michael, Mog is correct, the plug in the rear of the head closes off the oil gallery for the rockers. I also ordered gaskets from MOSS and got the wrong ones that don't cover this plug like the original ones did. I ended up making my own with the original shape.
I contacted MOSS Technical letting them know they were supplying the wrong gasket, but their response was unsatisfactory. Abingdon's gasket has the correct shape but it is not cork like the original.

I've never seen a banjo bolt on the oil pump with that extension-- I have 6 engines of my own and have probably rebuilt a dozen more over past years. Don't know its purpose either.

Perhaps the fitting is for an aftermarket oil temp gauge sender. Mine was drilled into the side of the sump.

If you say there's a spring and some sort of plunger inside, it just might be a makeshift checkvalve to insure the engine doesn't lose its prime.

thank you for the infos

Now I know, that my cylinderhead is ok, but the gasket not....

to the Oilpump
my car / TD/C / was once used in races, so I am always interested in the changes I find. But this thing has contact with the stay bar, when the motor moves. so I dont like it and think about changing to original

Hi
i checked this myterious pipe on the oilpump
ther is nothing inside....
it is a kind of priming plug for the old oil pump.
normally otherwise you had to dismount the connection pipe to the separate filter . and with my solution you can prime the pump without dismounting.
on later models this was updated with a better solution.
