Triumph TR3 - 3A front disks - can you help

Hello

I was hoping someone could give me an answer as to the OE size (diameter) of the TR3A front disk rotors.

I have heard from a few sources that the rotors are slighly larger than those used on the TR4/5/6's. I have found that a lot of aftermarket manufacturers seem to list the 3A as the same rotor as the 4/5/6. I am playing around with a conversion on my TR6 and a slightly larger rotor would be ideal.

If you have a part number / manufacturer etc for the larger OE rotor, that would be great - if not, just an accurate diameter measurement will do.

Many thanks
Roger

Hi Roger:The early TR3 rotors were 11" in dia. and were coupled with type A or B calipers after that they were 10 3/4" with type C calipers.I have the larger rotors on my '58 TR3A.
Chuck

Thanks Chuck - that's a great start.

Do you mean that early TR3 or early TR3A rotors were 11"? - sorry - I'm not so familiar with the 3 series. If I could also get your commission # it may help a bit.

Thanks
Roger H

Hi Roger:
My comission # is TS41444.The mfg. date is Oct./'58.
I believe all TR3 & TR3A models had the 11" rotor up to '60 or '61 probably around TS60000.
Chuck

Thanks again Chuck - I'll see what I can dig up - don't fancy my chances though as they all seem to be listed as 10 3/4".

Time to wade through some spec sheets to find a match.

Hey Chuck Comm# TS41444 is the closest comm# to mine I have seen. 58 TR3A Comm# TS41408-L, check out http://trregistry.com/start/registry/html/TR3/index.htm

There are 196 TR3's registered to date, add your.

Thanks

Thanks for the thought to "register". It was interesting to see that there were 4 TR3s from BC registered, and the other 3 didn't belong to a known club. In a province of 4,000,000 people, there are about 30 TR3s where you can find the owners name on club lists, and probably 10-20 more I expect.
