Triumph TR3 - Brooklands screens

Gents and Don specifically, I noticed some 'talk' in the archives about the present day offering of B/S's (that's Brookland Screens) not fitting the present drilled holes on the older Tr's. Can the mounts be modified to fit the original positions or are the screens too long/short? Don, there was mention, same archive, of a gent in England having the correct screens made. Did this happen and any source for availability?

You might make adapter plates where you could attach the Brooklands to the new plates after attaching the plates to match the original holes.

The chap in England offering original correct S-T aero-screens never got the project to market. Something about his supplier of the glass in India not being able to supply the right parts.

Don, Too bad about the screens not making it. Where is there a photo of the original screens for reference. Thanks Pat

I made mounts for my Brooklands from brass stock and they work fine. Let me know if I can be of further help.

I'll check it to see if it works. I keep getting errors on pages, that's why I wanted to post the screen pic page.

If the pic doesn't come up the first time, try refreshing the page.

The main differences between the original S-T aeroscreens and the Brooklands are the following : -

1. The glass is higher for the TR. The width may also be different.
2. The gap between the bottom and the cowling is closed with a rubber seal on the S-T originals. This seal helps keep the driver and passenger a lot dryer when it's raining compared to the Brookland screens.
3. The mounting points (2) on the S-T aeroscreens fit the holes on the TR2, TR3 and the early TR3A cowling and the Brooklands have 4 holes per aeroscreen which don't line up with these holes.

Tom Somethings up with MSN, don't usually have any problems but I couldn't get in either. Pat try again tomorrow.

Don I am glad to see you haven't lost your humor...This seal helps keep the driver and pasenger a lot dryer when it's raining compared to the Brookland
screens. Too funny!

Thanks, The pics came through for me - it is quite different looking. I'm not excited about putting additional holes in the cowling but could probably fashion mounts to fit the existing holes 'if' the repros are about the same length - a rubber strip mod wouldn't be too dif either and does seem practical (wet weather jokes aside)
