Triumph TR3 - Miata seats fit TR3?

I could go with (totally) redoing my TR3a seats - involving patching the pans, and complete kits from springs (or foam base) through covers.
Then I would have originality - but this is not critical to me. More so, is long distance comfort. I want to be able to walk after driving several hundred miles/kms.
For the $ involved, now I am thinking I might be about even to find a set of Miata/MX5 seats.
Anyone know if they fit?
I must qualify all this by saying I have never driven a TR3a any distance (or at all actually) nor have I driven a Miata/MX5 anyplace - so the comfort thing is all a bunch of assumptions. But for the work, dropping a set of already OK seats in place would definitely save me time and hassle.
TIA,

A trip to the junkyard should turn up some interesting seats. I think anything with headrests would look real funny in a TR3, just my opinion. Don't throw away your originals, they are kinda rare. If you reupholster your own TR3 seats, make sure to get the piping that runs across the seat bottom to fit down tight. My first attempt at this resulted in seat bottoms that put my legs to sleep somewhat on long trips.
Tom

I have a 58 TR3A that I put alot of miles on, two years ago I installed Mazda Miata seats in place of my nice leather tr3 seats....I love them, nice support and great comfort compared to the stock seat--with the added benefit of safety with the head rests..It's a snug fit, a little trimming is needed(had to take the return spring for the seat back off, easy to figure out. then took and welded angle brackets to the Miata seat brackets, gives you a chance adjust the angle of the seat for more leg support.(Like Tom said don't throw the original seats out, mine are covered and stored and can be put back in at any time.) Hi Joe:
The first question is it any Miata or a specific year? Also did you use the existing floor track or bolt the welded on angle bracket directly to the floor?
Chuck

Hi Chuck, I used the seat track of the Miata, cut off the front mounting of the miata seat track and also cut off the rear pin in the track..then I used angle iron, welded it to the seat track, welded three bolts to the angle for mounting to the floor pan. I believe there are what are early Miata seats and later ones..don't know the years, but I used the earlier ones.(by the way they have speakers in the head rest if you have a radio in your car.)Here is the web site that I first got the seat info from.
