Triumph TR3 - Paint
I have a Signal Red 1959 TR3A. Well, it was repainted somewhere sometime a long time ago so I'm not even sure the paint color is accurate. According to the Moss specs in their catalogue the Ditzler paint code is 70966. Moss sells no paint and neither does TRF nor Victoria British. My local PPG supplier referenced the Ditzler number and the computer claims that PPG has no close match. So where does paint come from for these cars? thanks Howard |

Howard: Make sure your local supplier sells a lot of paint one PPG supplier I went to said the same thing to me. When I went to the regional PPG supplier the Moss number matched up. (Regional supplier sells to the local guy) Unfortunately, I only have the current OMNI number for acrylic urethane British racing green if you need that. You should also be able to take a sample (body panel) to your local PPG supplier and they should be able to match it up exactly if you can find some original paint on it. It took some time to find the matching paint for my car and it scared me to no end when the description read Toyota perseus green on the can but when the paint dried it matched the original color perfectly. Thanks for the paint info. I too found it hard to believe that PPG couldn't cross reference this color. That's the problem with going to a small paint shop in a small town. You don't always get the right answer the first time. I didn't know I could call them myself; thanks for the phone numbers. Howard |

Does anyone have information about Salvador Blue or Winchester Blue? |

Howard-I had my signal red TR6 repainted with PPG paint and the touchup bottle I received was labled:OEM 300 Ferrari DBC72489 K Rosso Red So maybe your TR3 will be changed into a Tessarossa. Berry |
