Triumph TR3 - TR 3 Color Combination ?

OK guys this is what I'm looking for, I'm in the process of restoring a 59 TR3A. I want some possible color combinations; I have a 58 TR3A in Signal Red and Black interior so that out. Any ideas would be appreciated, just throw at me. I want something a little different, but original.

Thanks

Russ-I vote for powder blue body with matching hard top and blue interior. I have a sales brochure with this combination and it was instrumental in hooking me on Triumphs in 1960.

I saw a nice one in real pale yellow that I liked, and it was different. He had fender skirts (don't know the english phrase for these, wheel spats?). I don't remember if the interior was black or not, but you could use a lot of different shades of tan/brown with the yellow.

I also like them in dark maroon, but that's still red.

I had a pure white one, that was good, because it was a year round driver. But boring. I think a tan interior would have set it off softer than the black.

You could be bold and do a magnolia one, but I think that's only proper on one early year or so.

I have given up asking my wife what color to paint the cars, the answer is always the same....red. I have 3 of them.

Really struggled with this on my own resto; it has probably been the most difficult decision along the (nearly 8 year) way...finally, sice I have a red interior and am not concerned with it being an original colour, I have decided on silver, like the new Beetle. Very slightly metallic, with clear coat over it.
I thought the silver would look good with the red, and it wouldn't be too hot in the summer, and ot wouldn't show off my poor bodywork as much.
And then, just the other day I saw this new Jaguar with a really dark type of BRG and did it ever look good......

All of you had great ideas, but what about British Racing Green with tan interior?
John Triska

John-Nice combination, but according to the sales lit. I have from 1960, a tan interior was not available. How about a nice targo purple or silverstone grey instead?

I like BRG with tan, dark green and light tan (beige?). You'll see a lot like this at shows, very popular. Berry is trying to tell you that concours gets very picky as to originality. If you intend to compete, every little thing matters. And some people prefer their cars to be exactly as they left the factory, or better.

I always say it's your car, do what you like.

Russ,

Here's an idea: surf to www.imparts.nl, click on 'Showroom', then click on 'Cars for sale at Imparts', go to page 3 of the photo showroom and you'll find a MINT GREEN TR3A with BURGUNDY upholstery, softtop and side screens. But hurry, the car is being sold, so the picture will be taken of the website in the near future.
I've seen the car in bright sun light and I think it looks stunning. The story goes that the (previous) owner of the car had the same trouble choosing a colour and that his wife then came up with this combination. The car comes with a mint green bathroom tile...
Is it original? As far as I know, this is the story: quit a number of TR's came in boxes to a carplant in Belgium, unpainted, some even without a chassis number. The customer ordered the car and the colour. After that, the car was assembeled according to specification.

Something about myself: I'm new in the TR scene, but I've owned several classics, including a Spitfire. I recently bought a 1959 TR3A, powder blue, chassisno. 61459. It was originally sold to a guy in Seattle (I think). The car came to Europe in 1996 and changed hands several time. The car's looks aren't great, but it has no rust and drives okay. So, for the near future I'll enjoy driving. (Oh, and my English is not so good, but you all noted that off course)

I have posted this question on various Triumph forums and have received numerous replies about color or colour depending and which side on the pond you’re on. And have narrowed my choices to Silverstone Gray/Red, Winchester Blue/Red or Stone and Salvador Blue/Red. This has been fun so far, deciding on a color combination. The 59 TR3 that I bought is in pieces, the car has no rust and the frame has been finished. So their will be a lot of work before paint. I am looking forward to it.

Thanks everyone for there input.

Of those choices, I think I'd go with the gray.

If the body is off you can save yourself some $ by painting the underside of it yourself before bolting it back down to the frame. I had my body (the car I mean) hanging from the rafters foor a few years there and it was pretty handy to do it that way - no masking etc.
Yeah I like the grey too.
