Triumph TR3 - windshield lower sealing rubber
tr crew, when you remove the stanchions from the windshield frame, do you have to disassemble the chrome frame around the glass to install the lower sealing rubber? thanks, payne |

Hello Payne, You don't have to remove the whole frame, but be aware that you have to put the rubber lower seal the other way around so it wil pointing to the interior of your TR. This because of the fact that you will have more pressure from the rubber to the body ! Raymond van Donk - NL |

raymond, i have the lower and top rubber seals installed now. it was not real easy.it took a lot of soapy water and a lot of pulling.it was a good thing the seal rubber was made out of tough material. i was not sure what you mean by "put the rubber lower seal the other way around so it will point to the interior of the tr "? i guess the first time i drive the tr in a good rain i will find out if i did a good job. my first tr3 even when it was brand new was not totality dry in a rain. thanks, payne |

Hello Payne, What I mean by "the other way around" is that you have to mount the lower seal directing backwards so the rubber will give more pressure by mounting the window to the body ! Hope you will understand it this time Payne. Happy motoring - Raymond - TR3A - TS 61003L |

Raymond is right. Since the TR3 windscreen is tilted back, the slight 'backward' angle on the sealing rubber actually ends up just right. If you install it "intuitively", there will be a gap between the seal and the body. I know this as a result of my "do each job twice" program... Jeff - TS44864LO |
