Triumph TR6 - 1120 hours & 69 TR6 frame up restoration is done

Success at last. 1120 hours , 3 years 3 weeks and untold $$ (probably more than I will ever get from selling it)and I have finished my frame up restoration of a 1969 TR6.

I drove it on the road for the first time in 23 years. This car was purchased in early 1969 in England and brought back by Jim Reed of Sarnia in 1969. My father purchased it in 1977 and we did a semi major body rehab. We put it on the road in 1978 (me in my teens) and drove it for 4 years (winter as well). It corroded terribly and in 1982 we took it off the road. My brothers started to take it apart in 1983 (I was in university at the time) and gave up on it leaving it half apart. It sat parked in a shed on my father's apple orchard until June 2002 when I pulled it out along with the misc. boxes of parts and began an obsessive rebuild on it.

I am now ready to partake in TR6 get togethers in southern and central Ontario. Next year I will expand my touring radius.
Can anyone in the area let me know what is happening locally? Appreciate it.
I can post before, during and after pictures as well if there is any interest. Where is the best place for this?

I now look forward to many happy hours of TR6 driving, socializing, tuning, repairing and not necessarily in that order.

Hi Rick,

I live in the Georgetown Ontario area. My parent's apple orchard is outside of Forest Ontario about 25 minutes north of Sarnia Ontario.

It sure would be nice to get someone to pay me $50/hour. My wife has a job list miles long since I told her I couldn't get to any household jobs until the car was done.

I have many digital pictures and a chronology of activity and could literally bore the heck of even the most ardent TR6 enthusiaist.

I will post some pictures in the next couple of days.

Congratulations Mike! It takes a determined type of person to do what you have done. And a significant other who will put up with you, hehe. I am involved with some of the most patience-trying tasks right now, but I see light at the end. I don't think I would feel the same connection with the cars if I hadn't gone through the contortions, pain, and sometimes, near rage that they have provided me. Sounds a bit masochistic, no? Looking forward to seeing your end result!

Congratulations Micheal! I'm currently halfway through(Hopefully!) my 1972 TR6 It a lot of money and a lot of time but with an understanding spouse (she's actually helping with the seats) it will be all worthit in the end. We joined the Hamilton British Car Club last summer when we first got the car and have found the members to be most helpful in finding parts and giving adice on how to restore the car. Congratulations again I hope to see you in Bronte next September. Regards John
