Triumph TR6 - 1969 tr6 fender beading

Ok, I'm looking to all of you for some help.I can't seem to find very much information about the fender beading of the very early 1969 TR6's. (located between the rear deck center panel and the rear wing fender) Were they originally painted? Or were they polished? What vin numbers had them? Why did they eliminated it? Any other info would greatly be appreciated.
Benji

Benji,
I don't recall all the details offhand, but these were a holdover from the TR250 and were eliminated very early in the TR6 production, just which VIN I've never heard. There should be articles available on this subject. Suggest you google to see if one of the LBC periodicals had an article. As I recall they were painted body color and were eliminated to give cleaner lines to the TR6 design.

Benji,
The wing beading (molding) was discontinued after Carb VIN CC32142 and PI VIN CP26998. Hope this helps.

Doug gives the details and I bet this coincides with when the parts bin was empty.

Thanks guys! I knew I'd get a good response. So, where are you getting the info from? Does your source have anymore info about the 1969 cars? Do you know what the differences with the engines are?
Regards
Benji

I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't in the Original Triumph book

Interesting. Mine (CC26936) did not have them when I bought it in 1976, with no sign that the rear wings had ever been removed. But I suppose one never really knows...

A.J. The moldings were never installed on your car. Production stopped with the 1969 year model. I may have added a digit to that CC #. I'll check again.

AJ,
I misread your post. I read that your TR6 was a 1976 model. Should have paid attention to the CC# which indicates that your car was the 1935th TR6 built in late 68 or early 69 as a 69 model. 7,142 TR6's were built in 1969 model year. CC#'s ran from CC25001 to CC32143 so the next to last car manufactured in 1969 model year was the last car manufactured with fender beading. So why does yours not have it. Most obvious reason was some PDO removed the beading somewhere before your ownership. My $0.02!!

Sorry, Doug. I should have been clearer. I only hope that now knowing my car should have something it does not isn't going to totally destroy my enjoyment of the car ;^)

i have cc25605L it had the beads painted body color, well most of the beads anyway, theres a few differences is some of the body tub panels, that were only used in 69 the front right wheel arch, as is the right rear inner fender. jim
