Triumph TR6 - alternative engine for TR6
i am rebuilding my 1970 TR6. this is my first time with a tr6. my engine has blown and i had it xrayed and it has a crack, i have gotten mixed reports on welding the original engine so i am trying to get feed back to see if anyone has tried an alternative engine. i am looking for the cheapest way possible. i would love to stick to the true tr6 line but price is an issue. i don't want to rework the transmission. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |

I've got a few spare tr6 motors for reasonable$$ to heavy to ship so if your not near the east coast of Florida it may not be worth it. jeff |

I just joined this group, and saw your post on alternative TR6 engines. Like the previous response, I too have a 'spare' tr6 engine, but shipping across US could be $$$. Since you asked about 'alternatives' have you checked out : http://members.aol.com/danmas/ He has done a lot of research (with pictures) about putting a Ford 302 V8 into a TR6. It's definitely not for the inexperienced; lots of cutting, welding, special bracket making, etc. There's also a useful page that compares several other engine swaps, with size and weight considerations. Rick is right that you should check out Dan Masters site, but I differ on the experience. I am doing a conversion to a Ford 302 and have found it to be quite straight forward. I am a handy guy but I've never done anything like this before. email me if you're interested. Christopher2 catrace@primus.ca |
