Triumph TR6 - Anyone have 2 aluminum trim rings for sale?

Does anyone out there have 2 original aluminum trim rings for the 15" wheels, I would like to stay original if possible and two have road rash from the PO. Looks like getting them repaired (cleaned up" is almost impossible so I will now take the buying route!

thanks

Hey, Bob.

With regard to wire wheels, I bought the Dayton's from TRF during a winter sale, and have been very pleased with them. The spokes are polished stainless steel, so plenty strong.

I believe that now you can order the wheels "sealed" to accomodate tubless tires. I did it myself with silicone 7 years or so ago - works fine.

I've no experience with the Dunlop brand that's made in India, but when I bought my wheels heard that they weren't delivered "true". Maybe that's been fixed by now.

Thanks for the heads up...i hadnt thought to request "sealed". I will contact my source and see how they respond. I have looked at TRF sale and can actually do better through a local toronto source with less hassle of cross border shipping

I am ordering the Dayton wire wheels, all reviews I have seen rank them as high quality/workmanship.

Bob,
My TR6 came with a set of wire wheels, no hubs. The PO had never installed them. Investing in a new set of hubs was not an inexpensive decision so I set about to determine if the wheels I had would indeed be servicable. I discovered that there was only one shop that could actually make that determination and "true" the wheels if out of tolerance. That shop was in Greensboro NC. I took the wheels there, the shop tested all four, determined two to be adjustable within tolerance; one good for a spare and one unservicable, good for little more than an anchor. After some considerable thought AND the fact that I had 5 good original steel wheels, I have abandoned wire wheels for the time being. I may revisit this some time in the future after I'm driving for awhile. The point of all this is the Wire Wheel Shop emphasized that even wheels direct from the manufacturer may be out of tolerance and need testing and adjusting. They also had the capability to true the tires as well as the wheel to have a perfectly concentric and balanced whole. Just something for you to think about as you proceed.
