Triumph TR6 - Appology to TR Register

To all who read this BBS,

One behalf of Alistair, I would like to make a public apology to the TR Register specifically to Chris Cunnington, General Manager TR Register, and all TR Register members. We apologize for making available for free the TR Register CD. We apologize for not asking for permission to use it. It is no longer available for download. I request that all people who have downloaded it, to delete the file from your computer and not to distribute it to anyone else via CD.

Alistair has personally contacted Chris Cunnington and apologized for both of us.

Mr. Cunnington has suggested that if one wants the information that is one the TR Register CD that they become a member of the TR Register and get the CD as part of their membership.

I also apologize to Mike Plumstead for any embarrassement or inconveneience this may have caused him.

I have been a paid-up member of the TR Register since 1987. They are a fantastic group. I suggest that everyone becomes a member. Have any of you seen the club magazine "TR Action" ? It is all glossy, all colour and comes out 8 times a year. It's better than Triumph World in my estimation.

Rick/Alistair:

Acknowledge your message and will delete TR Register portion of the CD. Sad that you had to publicly apologize for a purely volunteer effort which entailed no expectation of profit or gain. You guys are what owning a TR6 is all about. Please post again when you get out of the joint:>)

All that stuff is available elsewhere. Some knickers just got into a twist. It's all good.

Who's Mike Plumstead?

Rick,
You can google his name. Lots of hits there.
Thanks,

I'm with Brent....and the Twisted Knickers Theory! Can I inquire as to what content was 'borrowed' from the TR Register? Does someone need to get a visit from the Ford Ka-Sport?

I think it is only fair to say that the TR Register is the injured party here. They put a lot of time into collating all of the tech tips sent to the club over 30 years into one CD, and since they have a paid staff, they therefore incurred significant costs. This was done to help their members - the people who pay their wages. They provide a copy of the CD to all of their members as part of the membership. By putting it onto the web for free, we were essentially taking away one of the benefits they could offer in exchange for the annual dues. As far as I know they don't publicise the CD as a "perk" but that is beside the point.

It is my experience and belief that the TR Register is active in helping people to keep their cars on the road, and as such we should be supporting them. It is entirely possible that they would have given consent for the information to be made available through our website, had we asked. We did not - this was a matter of common courtesy, and I feel ashamed of myself.

I would like to echo Rick's apology to the TR Register, and also the owners of this site for any inconvenience my thoughtlessness may have caused.
Alistair
