Triumph TR6 - Backup Light Wiring

I've just finished putting my transmission top cover back together and now my reverse lights don't work. I had the connections clearly marked for the switches but I managed to rub off my labels for the harness coming from the tunnel (need a better pen evidently). Does anyone have an idea how the wiring should look? I've tried a number of logical combinations and tried to relate to the wiring diagram but no luck. Any help is appreciated. Bill v

I can't help you with the wiring, but get that car put back together quick. It's sunny and beautiful here in Regina and it looks to be heading your way. You won't want to miss it.

Even the geese are wearing rubber boots.

Thankfully everything else is okay so I just have to avoid backing towards any law enforcement officers in the meantime! We are anxiously waiting for some decent weather so please don't use it all up. bill v

Bill,
I've had the pleasure of working on my backup lights this week, so its fresh. The harness to the transmission switch has a green and green/brown pair (green is hot with key on). The G/B goes from the switch to the left backup light, then on to the right one. In my case, the switch was shorting so the lights were on dim all the time, and bright when in reverse. New switch on the way.

Thanks Mark, I'm going to give it another try tonight. The PO had some pretty interesting wiring modifications so it is often a vexxing puzzle. I'll let you know how I make out. Bill v

Fixed, thanks for the input. Since I had so carefully marked the connectors to the gearbox switches I mistakenly assumed the PO knew what went where and didn't pay attention to the wire colours (duh). Needless to say, the wires were reversed so the Green/Lt Green was the one powering the backup lights. There were some extra wires plugged in here and there making the whole affair even more interesting.
