Triumph TR6 - Bosch Alternator

Does anyone know where I can get the Bosch Ford Festiva alternator, #13107 that has been mentioned many times previously on this board as a simple swap for the Lucas? My 1975 (actually a 1974 1/2) has the short mounting bracket ( no air pump fitted) so I believe no modification will be necessary. My Lucas coninues to cause me grief!

I have tried my local NAPA dealer and they searched Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal databases but to no avail. Is it only available in the U.S.? Could one of our American colleagues help out?

I live an hour north of Toronto and commute in every day so If anyone in the area can help out, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Moe,
Check the archives...more than one good thread on this. One is still on the active list, Alternator, American made, 8 up from the bottom. Big problem finding one with a pulley. I was a machine shop visit away from having one made when Don K. stepped in & offered his for sale. NAPA here in Boise got one in from somewhere east of the Rockies, had no pulley. If you are upgrading, consider the Delco as well. I can check the local store tomorrow to see if they still have it, or if they can locate one. Semms it was around $130 USD.

My memory is short but I believe it is a fairly easy swap on the later 6's for a Delco unit. Contact Sir Dan on this matter.

The Delco unit is ok if you don't mind altering your wiring harness. I did the Bosch swap a couple of years ago on my 76 and nothing had to be changed or altered.

You can find information on the ford fiesta conversion at:

Hope this helps

Bob,

I spoke to a guy in Toronto today who says he has the Bosch alternator. He wants $125.00 with a recore and $150.00 without. He seemed very sure that he had the right one.It also comes with the fan and the pulley.

I haven't seen it yet but plan on making my way to his shop one day next week. I want to see it before I buy it.

I'll let you know if it's the right one and also see if he has another one for you.

E Mail me with the results (specifically the model number he is proposing)

For anyone in the Toronto area looking for a Bosch alternator:

Check with Carlaw Carburations, 996 Queen St. East, (northeast corner of Queen and Carlaw Ave.) Tor. M4M 1K1 Tel 416-469-3117.

I got a 55 amp Bosch from him yesterday for $166.00 (including taxes)+ $20.00 if no recore. It came without a fan or a pulley but he mounted them for me while I waited. He has more of these and is happy to take your Lucas off your hands.

The Bosch fit my car (1975)perfectly - no modifications necessary.

the original Lucas alt. Might be worth more as a core so be sure to see if you can dicker with them on value.

I got my Bosch from Beck/Arnley Worldparts, but you have to have it ordered from NAPA or another that Beck/Arnley will ship to.
