Triumph TR6 - Brake Servo Unit

How common is it to replace the brake servo unit ? I have a 75 TR6 and it looks like the leak is coming from the rear of the unit.
The master cylinder (which I thought was leaking) was replaced two years ago.

Hi Alan

If you mean brake fluid is leaking out of the servo, then the problem is the master cylinder - there should be no fluid in the servo itself.

Alan, I agree with Alistair. If there is fluid in the servo it was from a leaking master cylinder. When I rebuilt my servo I also found fluid had leaked from the master cylinder into the servo. Your fluid may have been from the old master cylinder you replaced and it is now finding its way out.

Thanks very much for your help....

Alan,
Sometimes a leak will develop between the plastic fluid resevior and the metal body of the master cylinder. Two o-rings provide sealing, but sometimes even a nearly new M/C can get this type of leak.
Wipe down the M/C body and carefully check it later. If the o-rings are leaking you should see seeping fluid along the bottom of the M/C. It flows back and eventually collects where it joins the booster. My new M/C did this and I tightened the 4 screws that hold the resevior on to stop it. Worth a try if you haven't already. Aloha.

I had a leak in my master that leaked into the servo. It deteriated the diaphrame after time and blew out. I was in the mountains traveling from Oregon to Reno for the National Air Races. That car (my first TR6) had extrodiary breaks (I wish I knew why)and was not too bad with out boost. Luckily, I won enough in Reno on a slot machine to buy a replacement booster!
