Triumph TR6 - british Cars in the movies
I am making a crossword puzzle for a car club meeting. I was hoping to collect British cars in the movies as clues. Could you give me some movies and the cars used? Jerry |

Good looking MGBGT parked in the gansters drive way in one of my favorate movies "Get Carter" with Michael Caine, Alan Alda drives a TR6 in "Sweet Liberty" nice TC for a brief moment in the black and white movie where Alex Guinnes steals gold from his employer. Can't remember the name of the movie. There is a MG parked next to the garage where the gangsters hide the loot in "A Fish Called Wanda". On the MG BBS there was a movie trivia thread. Hope this helps. |

Come on! This a Triumph site! "Soft top Hard shoulder", a 1993 British comedy road movie starred Peter Capaldi, music by Chris Rea AND, playing "Crazy Horse", a 1972 13/60 convertible. Any more Triumphs? |

Okay JohnD How about 'Throw Mama from the Train' and '3 Men and a Baby' that both featured a TR6. That should make you happy!! |

More, more! I could mention "Absolute Beginners", another British film but set in early 60's, that used Heralds and a Spitfire as background, and the early Cliff Richard flicks, that were MADE in the early 60's, ditto. "Featured", I don't think so, but "Summer Holiday" did feature a London double-decker bus! Oh, and "Anoraks of Fire", but that was about trainspotters. John |

My guess is you're looking for american movies featuring British Cars. How about Christine. In the final chaos in the workshop the Plymouth is ramming everything in sight. It hits a Mark 2 Ford Cortina in the side. If memory serves me correctly it is white with a green stripe!!!! Possibly a Lotus Cortina but we hope not. Regards Trevor '65 12/50 Herald |

Vacation with Chevy Chase. I saw a yellow Spitfire with a hardtop parked in one of the hotel scenes. |

One more, but not a film. British TV has a commercial for the new "twisted seam"(?) Levi jeans. A group of people get out of a car at a US Diner, and proceed to untwist themselves - FX as for Goldie Hawn in "Death becomes her". The car is a Triumph 2000. Why? (Is this a reference to the LBC syndrome? I suppose even a 2000 is an LBC in the US) Seen this ad Stateside? |
