Check out a past thread on this subject. Sorry can not remember thread title but it had to do with repairing these expensive animals....must be last year thread. If yours are totally falling apart in your hands then any LBC supplier can offer. Check out supplier top this BBS.

Dave--The lamp sockets are readily available from TRF. Also, watch ebaY as they frequently pop up. An entire set of 6 sockets was auctioned today for a bargain at around US$31.00. If you want to recondition yours, consult Nelson Reidel's tech article at the Buckeye site. Best wishes.

Ebay warning for you guys. I got a set of nice used sockets several months ago from ebay. They arrive and had the same grounding problem as my own. I think it occurs with socket age...period. I'd recommend reconditioning rather than buying used. The copper band trick Rick C. shared with me back then worked beautifully. I used bare wire and folded out beyond the socket rim so it would clamp directly to the tailight housing, bypassing all the socket pieces completely.

Actually Ebay (www.ebay.com) itself is fine, though I find the bidding often reaches 'new' prices by the time its over. Usually in the last 30 minutes of the auction.

If anyone is missing sockets, I still have a few, but they are no better than yours and will need to be reconditioned.

Mark--The ebaY sockets were brand new (what a great bargain at $31) and I agree that used sockets probably wouldn't be a good idea. I also agree, there is a lot of junk out there and the bidding may get outrageous, but I've purchased some really good stuff.

Rick C.--Make sure your ebaY search is on "Triumph TR6" or "Triumph TR" to eliminate most of the motorcycle stuff.

Rick, you're right..there are some deals to be gotten on ebay. I've purchased parts there about a half dozen times. One early experience was a purchase that I thought was good until I saw I paid what TRF charges. That's when I learned there are a lot of educated bidders out there.

Not sure how this thread transformed to an ebay discussion, but one last item worth covering on ebay is that you can register a search (for 'TR6 horn' for example) and set it up to email you whenever a listing shows up. Its free and remains active for up to 90 days. Its a helpful tool if you're looking for something particular. If you list just 'TR6', you'll find email every morning waiting with about a dozen new items. You'll also meet lots of part suppliers, including one site from UK that's been listing a lot of new parts lately.

sorry to go on so long on the wrong subject. Just wanted to clarify that Rick O is correct that its a good source. My earlier posting might has been misinterpreted.
