Triumph TR6 - Canada Trip

Hi Folks. Some time ago I asked the board about places to visit in Canada. We've settled on Quebec City and Montreal and will br driving from New Jersey. I am curious to know if there is anything TR related going on next week in the area. Also, I'm bringing my XM radio with us and would like to know if anyone has gotten a signal that far north. XM states they cover the continental US, but they don't guarantee coverage in Canada.

Thanks for any tips and tricks for the trip. My wife and son would be appreciative of any advise you could give.

Regards,

Don from Jersey

Radio in Canada??,....Don we just recently got flush toilets "that far north". Our huskies help us get around and our igloo's keep us warm, and our president Wayne Gretzky is great.

Hi Don,

Much to the dismay of the CRTC our equivalent to your FCC they cannot stop satellite signal at the border. As many Canadians with "grey market" TV satellite receivers will attest.

Your XM radio will work just fine.

Great choices on Montreal and Quebec City. Make sure to visit Old Montreal and if you have time take Hwy 15 North to the Laurentians. It should be spectacular this time of the year. The town of St-Sauveur is also one of my favorite place.

If you want a preview of Montreal, check out:

Have a great trip.

Marcello,

Congratulations on the flush toilets! Here in the states, we have both kinds of music - country AND western.

Sylvain,

Thanks for the link. A very pretty town.

We're bringing MS Streets and Trips with GPS, so getting around shouldn't be too bad.

Marcello,

I'll have to come up there and get a big plate of some seal blubber! Oh yeah you don't use plates. I can only get to your place by dog sled right?

That was funny Marcello...for sure.

Glad to have amused you all. In light of the same subject, I was listening to all the Hollywood stars visiting Toronto during the recent film festival. A news reporter made it a feature on how these well known celebs, who have never been to Toronto let a lone Canada were surprised. Surprised that they brought a long a winter coat in Sept, and that it wasn't all that cold here, and we have provinces not states and the big dude here is a Prime Minister not a President. It's all good I am sure Canaucks are no different when we go south.

Hello Don,

There is this club in province of Québec that you could contact. It is a multi makes club, but usually they have some activities that may be of some interest.

The best thing is to write to club president to have all infos as their web site calendar needs a leat 9 Ph.D. to undestand it.

J.G,
" I know that TR6 are extremly reliable and never have mechanical problems" ?????????????????
Marcello

Marcello,

Yes indeed "extremely reliable"; like the maytag man theses parts sellers are surely knitting near woodstove or selling parts for MG's.

Personally I never faced a coming home with my TR6 on a float in many travels I have done.

Guys,

Thanks for the ideas. The wife, son and I drove from NJ to Montreal and Quebec City. Both were beautiful. People were great, weather warm and sunny (until the last two days of the 8 day trip).

The thought never crossed my mind to take the TR6. There'd be a few issues with that:

1. Two adults and child seat won't fit (but I've heard tell of someone on this board bolting a child seat onto the back shelf)

2. A two year old required a ton more stuff then would fit (hence the rented minivan).

3. It's not fully put together yet.

All in all a wonderful time, and I'd do the trip again in a minute.

Regards,

Don
