Triumph TR6 - Cancelling the Emission Control System

I´m restoring my ´73 TR6 LHD, changing the Strombergs by a pair of SU.
I will "forget in a corner of the garage" ( like they use to say ), all the pipes, canister and things related with the "emission control" system.

The questions: there were two metal pipes going from the petrol tank to the engine bay, one gets to the pump; can I cancel the other one ? Do I have to keep any of the parts related to the system ?

Thanks in advance.
C Suarez

The other one on mine has been converted to a breather for the tank, piped down to somewhere near the rear LH wheel.

Thanks, Ron. Could be a great idea.
I will try to get more information about this.

Carlos
It was done by a previous owner when he removed part of the emissions gear, I've never had any problems with it so I've left well alone. I removed the rest of the emissions stuff and fitted SUs and a big valve PI head, not as good as a PI car but a lot better than the low compression Stromberg cars.

Ron, sorry to bother you, but a couple of more things:

- What about the EGR valve ( screws into the cylinder head and connects to the inlet manifold )
- The hole in the rocker cover, do I have to "cancel" it ? ( excuse my english )
- Did you keep your mechanical fuel pump with your SU´s ?
-And finally: is it necessary any anti-heat shield between your carbs and manifold ?.
Thanks, and if you send me your Email adress, I´ll send you a couple of pictures ( before and in present stage of ( body-off restoration).
Thanks

Hi Carlos
EGR valve was removed and blanked on the original head and manifold, the PI head doesn't have a hole for it.
The connection on the rocker cover I used as a breather to the air filter box.
I have the original mechanical fuel pump which I renewed at the time of the conversion.
I haven't got a heatshield fitted, but I think I would fit one if I ever have the carbs off as the car usually turns over a couple of times before starting when warm in hot weather, you might have more of a problem with this as your climate is warmer than here. It is probably less needed with HS carbs than it is with HIFs, which I have as the float chamber is underneath the HIF and on the side of the HSs.
There has been a guy selling a pair of polished stainless steel heatshields on the UK E-bay quite a lot recently.
