Now if Rick's CC62645L from SEP 71 does not have the access plate in the boot and mine does, CC65881L, June 71...I'm just all confused since my CC number is after Rick's, but manufactured 2-3 months later!! Rick when you combined the two cars which is the real CC #?

DON KELLY

Add mine to your list:
January 1971
CC61654LO
Saffron Yellow.
Originally shipped to Portland, Oregon on March 1971, now resides in my garage in Sammamish Washington (just 30 minutes East of Seattle). I wonder if mine was made on the same day as Dan Master's car.

Mike Calhoun, your commission number...CF1819U makes your car a 73 model, I think. CC numbers ran through the 72 model year to CC85737 and the CF numbers began with the 73 model year with CF1 produced in August of 1972. If your Commission number is correct, you have a 73 Model, although it may have been actually manufactured in late '72.

Doug,

You are exactly correct...it is a '73 manufactered in November, 1972. It has all the '73 stuff...small head rests, plastic scuttle vent, etc. You fellows know your stuff on this BBS!

Speaking of scuttle vents, when was the switch to the fixed version made? Was it the second year out (1970)? I'm CC80171UO (1972) with the fixed vent.

Here I go again with tail between my legs.
I have the hole in the boot(like everyone else:)
Posted to your other thread re this mystery hole. So OK Doug you can stop now with making me look like I know nothing...... just kiddin' with ya Doug:)

Doug, the real CC is "CC65060LO May-71 Sapphire Blue 96 now with an O at the end:)116 after Dan's". When I bought the project, the owner had already done the dis-assembly. He decided that both the original body and frame where shot so he had a body and frame (originally same car....CC65060L codes 96/27) sent up from CA. I suppose when I picked it all up, I was actually helping him get ride of his not wanted body. I traded it for a rear bumper. His original frame I think he had already sold.

Mr. Kelly...not now:)

Benji, not sure if same day but at least in the same week.

By the way Doug, thanks for bring the "'71 club" to a current thread....this time with a bunch of wanna-be members:)

I suppose the question now is: ( since I have finally admitted I have a hole in my boot:) what year did it disappear ...or did it disappear?

Hello Rick et al.,

during my rustoration in which the rear inner and outer valances were replaced, I removed a "tar patch" from the rear inside of the boot to reveal a 4" round hole covered with an 18g plate , loose and rusty , which I replaced it with a stainless disc. My car is a white '76-6 com# cf57639UO ... pretty much the end of the run. I could see no reasonable use for the hole... the hole, or is that whole, mistery deepens!

Cheers, Rob
Rob Gibbs

Rob,
Same experience as I had...although my plate was not rusty or loose. It was covered with a tar like substance that peeled off revealing a polished steel disc riveted into the hole. So now we know (from Steve Pike) that it was there at least as far back as 1970 and from Rob Gibbs, through the end of the run in 76. Anyone have a TR-4 or 250 that they can check for this and see if it's a vestige of some earlier use? Just curious.

The plastic vent cover started with CF1..'73.
A weird change since the vent hole is always open to the elements.
I wounder if the hole was used to support the body during production as it travelled the production line?
