Triumph TR6 - Choices??
For those like myself who are starting on the long path of restoration.....how many years?how many $$$? I look to this BBS for a wealth of knowledge and I wish to thank the many people who contribute. There are many suppliers of available parts, VB, Moss, TRF, Rimmer Bros, Octagon just to name a few. And in Canada we have suppliers that are distributers for the major companies, and some handle two distributers i.e VB & Moss. The question that I have is. How do I know which company has the best part? Quality verses cost? Les |

I know the bad parts! don't ask how. If you need sun visor, don't get it from VB. I have other items from VB which I satisfied with though. Paddy |

Les, estimate the time, based on how much time you can realistically devote to the project on a weekly or monthly basis. Then triple it. On the dollars, sit down and make a list of everything you want to do. Check out the prices. Figure out what you can do yourself and what you have to pay to have done. Double the cost, and if you're doing most of it yourself, double the time again. Then ad back in a 20% contingency on both time and money. The formula is as follows, where T=time, $=money, and X=the unknown things you will encounter. B=your best good faith informed estimate at the outset. (B(T)x 3 + b($) x 2 + (B(T)x3)x 2) x .20 = time and money. The engineers and math guys can correct my forumula, but that will give you a very precise, although not exact, measure. Cheers, John |
