Triumph TR6 - dash brake light on
After driving my car for a period of time the brake light begins to illuminate. When sitting at a stop light the light will go on but then go off when accelerating. My master cylinder is full and no leaks are apparent. Any ideas? |

That light should be connected to your brake differential valve. Either it needs to be centered again or it needs to be rebuilt. Easy to do. Get the kit and look here for info http://www.74tr6.com/pdwa.htm |

Is that the same light that comes on with low oil pressure? I can't remember now. One of my lights used to come on the same way. Found out that the oil pressure switch spring got weak and started to close (turn on the oil pressure light) before it should. Repacing the switch is real easy. Rob |

There is no such light on a Triumph. That light does exactly as I said. |

The owners manual says that when the ign. is switched on, the low pressure oil light and the brake failure light will glow dimly and when the engine is running, they will be extinguished. Maybe the charging system is weak, which is why the light is on when idling, but goes out when accelerating. Rob-You are right there is a low oil pressure light but it is located at the bottom left on the tach. Berry |

Rob- Read Brake pressure when you wrote Oil. Sorry |

Oh my goodness..what are we going to do...Don made a mistake! |

The PDWA valve was rebuilt when I rebuilt the brakes. It seems now that the oil light on the tach is coming on. My battery is strong and continues to start the engine easily. It seems odd that these lights only come on long after the engine is warm. If the charging system is weak, why does the car continue to start easily? |

John-I was wrong the charging system has nothing to do with the problem. Next guess would be the oil pressure sender unit. Unless the oil pressure is actually low. Berry |
