Triumph TR6 - Datsun alloys

Has anyone fitted their car with a set of 15"X6" 280Z alloys. If so what issues do I need to know about. I have a set of snowflake wheels that will be going to the polisher this week. I did find a set of lug nuts in 7/16 with the correct wheel nut washer.

Hello,

I fitted many years ago such wheels made by Cheviot. In times where finding a brand new steel wheel was near miracles. They are still looking great and doing fine. The only difficulty was the offset of wheels as jap. cars are very often positive offset. Some spacers were required and I had holes modified to accomodate tube nuts instead of cone ones.

if you used spacers, how did you account for needing to extend the stud longer to get proper thread count for attaching securely?

Bob,

You have a good point here. In fact I didn't fitted longer studs as they were unavailable 15 years ago. I had 3/8 in. spacers custom made in Al. As the nuts are tube type and studs protrudes sligtly inside wheels holes, I didn't searched further. I never had a problems with them, but I do not rallye nor race. I think now you can find longer studs( not shure where) and it is a modification that is logical by itself. These Cheviot wheels not only improved the look of the car but also handling, when compare to heavy steel rims.
