Triumph TR6 - Day of Manufacture
Well, hello everyone. New to the site...3rd time British Car owner (original owner Spitfire and maybe 7th owner E-Type -1E13218- series 1, now a 1973 TR6 -CF3581UO-). Read a thread about day of manufacture, so I thought I would see what day mine might have been born on. Here's how I did it for CF 3581 UO... Known: CF 1 U produced on Sept 11, 1972 CF 4028 U produced on Dec 31, 1972 Between 9/11/72 and 12/31/72 there are 79 workdays Guessed: There are 2 holidays in 1972 for that time (Christmas, Boxing Day) Given 2 holidays, there would be 77 workdays between 9/11/72 to 12/31/72 4028 cars produced in 77 workdays gives 52.3 cars/day 3581 (my number) cars produced at 52.3 cars per day yields about 68.4 days 68 days past Sept 11, 1972 gives a date of about December 14, 1972 December 14, 1972 is best guess for birthday of CF 3581 OU Plate reads December 1972. Like to find out for sure, until then, Dec 14th is the day. ![]() |

Could you send that email address over to me? I had no idea...could have saved me about 45 minutes of figuring this date of birth out in the first place. Thanks for the review on the pic. BTW, I have a friend in San Juan with a (hmm...74, I think) and needs a replacement EGR valve...any ideas on that? He is supposedly tried everything. Thanks, Steve |
