Triumph TR6 - Decal and British Leyland

Hello everyone
Well after 4yrs the frame on restro.is all most
complete, and was about to place the decal and badge on the rear fender & lower front fender and could not find it in the archives, the measurment.
also i seem to recall the old british leyland badge that was on the car before had blue lettering
wheras the new ones are black ?.also i notice the last
one to come of the line does not have the badge on the
lower front fender.so if any one can remember the location measurement for the union jack and leyland
badge it would be of great help.

Reading thru the archives I found this quote from a previous thread that might be of some help for the
British Leyland Badge.
"My '74 has the origional paint, and has never had the body panels restored. I don't think that the badges have ever been touched, so I'm assuming origional. The badge on mine is exactly 2 inches in from the back end of the fender, and 12 inches down from the horizontal pinstripe. Hope this helps.

The pinstripe on Pete's TR I presume is exactly at the body crease as not all TRs have pinstripes.
That stupid badge went from left side to right side to non-existant. Coventry deffinitely could not make their minds up on that one.

"The Leyland badge is blue." Not exactly.......

The little BL badges were added to the cars as sort of a "Corporate Identity" attempt. The earliest cars that I remember seeing them on from new were 1971 models. At the time they were blue with silver logo and text. Then sometime fairly early in the 1974 model year, they were changed to silver with blue logo and text. From a spares standpoint, they were supplied in blue with silver, then all of a sudden they showed up under the same part number as silver with blue. No explanation, no warning, and of course, "No this is all you can get now" from BL delivered in that "Get used to disappointment" or somewhat sarky "Have a nice day" manner. Then they went back to blue with silver on the cars, but we kept getting silver with blue as spares. We never managed to make any sense out of that. I do not ever recall seeing any BL badges in black on a new car.

As far as fitment went, on MGBs they were on both sides just ahead of the doors and about an inch or so below the moulding, Spridgets had them down low on both sides. Fitment on Triumphs seemed to be more haphazard. I remember cars with them on one side only, on both sides and some with none at all on the same load of cars. The basic location described as 2 inches from the back of the fender and about 12 inches below the mould line is a pretty good placement for where they were located when put on a TR6.
