Triumph TR6 - Decal Location - 71 TR 6
I just finished painting my 6, and I have a couple of unanswered details about the decals. This is a 71, color Damison (Sp?). Would the TR6 emblem on the rear wings have been White or Black? How do I find out the correct placement of the new Decal? I also need to find the correct placement of the BL emblems on the front Quarter panels. Any web sites or information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Joe |

Joe I'm pretty sure they should be white, if no-one comes up with a definitive answer about position I'll measure mine and post it. Ron |

Joe, Small world, I just put my decals on this afternoon. My car is a 72 and it was originally damson but painted burgandy/maroon by the previous owner. I used the white decal. To find the location, I went to the 6-pack archives, http://www.team.net/archive/6pack type in "TR6 badge location". In summary: "The "T" (in TR6) is 6 1/2" from the edge of the tailight chrome. The top of the badge is 1 1/4" from the top of the tailight chrome. With the badge being on the same plane as the tailight. He took measurements from his car. (original placement" Godd luck, Mark |

The TR6 should be white on all colors but Jasmine or White. Black transfers were used for Jasmine, while red transfers were used on white cars. Note that the 6 1/2" dimension would be side dependent. If that is intended to be the right hand side of the car, it is way too far forward. If it is for the left hand side, sounds about right. As far as up/down location, the logo should centered about the center of the tail lamp height. You may want to take a look and then lay out some placement guides using masking tape. |

So much for the back end. What about the BL badge on the front (Wings)fenders. |

Hey Joe. I've got a 71 also. My wife got me the stick ons for Christmas, and we used the measurement these guys are talking about. We haven't got around to the badge yet. Let me know what you find out. John. |

Joe, Check the archives for the badge location. Seems that I recall a comment about them being 2" from something or 'nother. db |

Hi all, I think the rear wing emblems must be a FLAG. the tr6 decals are only fitted on the PI models (or you all must have PI models). Or am I mistaken ? Eric |

The flag was only on TR's shipped overseas from 73 to 76. It was put on 73's to celebrate 20 years of the TR line and 50 years of Triumph cars. Charlie |

Reading thru the archives I found this quote from a previous thread that might be of some help for the British Leyland Badge. "My '74 has the origional paint, and has never had the body panels restored. I don't think that the badges have ever been touched, so I'm assuming origional. The badge on mine is exactly 2 inches in from the back end of the fender, and 12 inches down from the horizontal pinstripe. Hope this helps. Cheers Pete Russell, Erin, Ont. " Brian Red '73 |

Joe Now that ytou know where the TR6 emblems go, I shall answer your question on the front fender BL emblems. It is simple for '71. That year did not have them L. or R. side of the car. Rick C |

According to TRF; http://zeni.net/trf/TR250-6/index.php?menu=B&show=193 My jan 72 seems to have had the flag. |

Skikir, I went to the page and I read it as rear transfers are for 69 - 72 and not the flag till 73 and I agree with Rick ..the British Leyland logo badge appeared on cars from 72 on. Charlie |

The specific TRF listing cited is by model year, with the TR6 outline font logo used for the 1969 through 1972 model years on NA market cars. A January 1972 produced car would be a 1972 model year car with a commission number in the CC788xx to low/mid CC79xxx range depending on how late in the month it was produced. It would have been fitted with the TR6 outline font logo. As far as I know, all CP and CR series cars (neither of these series were sold in the NA market) used this same outline font logo. The "Flag" logo was first used at the start of the CF series of commission numbers. That commission number series was initially used for the 1973 model year with commission number CF 1 U produced 11 September, 1972. |

OK guys, I now have two (2) sets of BL emblems that I no longer need (one set is new, one off Ebay used) and a set of flags transfers. Of course since my 71 was built in June of 71 and has other 72 features, maybe the badges do belong there, but I guess not the flags. What am I offered? db |

I also have a repainted car ('75) with no horizontal pinstripe and need to attach the BL stick ons on the front fenders. I see in this thread they should be 2 " from the rear of the fender. Can someone give me a vertical reference that doesn't require a pin stripe? Thanks, K |
