Triumph TR6 - Differential gasket replacement

I am about to drop the differential in order to replace the rubber. A mechanic said the seals were leaking so I'm planning on replacing those as well. Question is: Should I replace the rear housing gasket while I have it down? I can't tell if it is leaking or not and I would really rather not open up the casing.
Gene Fluder

What seals?
If your dropping the dif I would check your mounting points and reinforce them.

And what rubber?
DON KELLY

That would be the pinion oil seal and the two inner shaft oil seals. The rubber would be the front and rear rubber mountings ( I'll be using polyurethane )
Gene Fluder

Have you checked the mountings before?
Also, there has been some discussion of late about not using hard bushings on the dif mounting as it transfers more concussion to the fragile mounts.
DON KELLY

Don, This is the first time I looked at the mountings. One looks pretty dismal and the rest don't look that hot. It is a 74 and, as far as I know, they have never been changed so I'm thinking dry rot if nothing else.
Thanks for the tip on the urethane. I seem to remember reading that Triumph started to reinforce the mounts starting in 74 so I thought I would be OK. I'll play it safe and stick with the rubber mounts.
Gene Fluder

I would hire someone to weld them if you don't do that kind of thing. If they are that bad.
