Triumph TR6 - Don Elliott?

Has anyone heard from Don lately? How is he doing?

Don E posted in the TR2 or TR3 section a few days ago. Didn't mention his health. How's the restoration coming along, Don?

Thanks for your interest in knowing all about my condition.

In early October, I was diagnosed and I have been in remission from the bone marrow cancer since early December. At Christmas, I was bald from the chemo. My hair has come back - but now it's wavy. My full strength was back in April to June with weekly injections of EPREX that moved my hemoglobin up from 105 to 159 in 12 weeks. Hemoglobin takes the oxygen to the muscles for strength and to the brain to prevent dizziness. The normal range is from 135 to 175. My oncologist said I was fit enough to do the Tour de France. I have only driven "TRusty" about 1000 miles so far this summer as I don't want to get too far from my home province of Quebec where all my medication is covered by the government health care plan. For about 4 months, the medication I was taking totaled about $4000.00 per month for the generic brands.

For a while I had forgotten that I had the cancer.

My brother and my neighbour worked from last November to this June on the TR3A that I had been restoring. I was too weak to turn a bolt. They made great progress and today I'm taking the body to the paint shop for final finishing and painting. It'll be British Racing Green.

Don
Glad to hear you are on the mend.
I have heard TRusty crying all the way over here in Ontariario.
Sounds like you will be helping to put the body back on.
Maybe see you at Bronte??

Don,
We look forward to a full recovery. We are planing a TR Calendar and TRusty should be in there as a month of your choice.
Marcello

I bought my TR3A (Comm. No. 27489 LO) in May of 1958 so next May would be fine with me. It will be 48 years old by then. It was "born" in Coventry on St. Valentine's Day, February, 14th, 1958 according to the factory records (Heritage Certificate).

Do you want to use the photo highlighted above ? Or do you want another one ?

Yes, I plan to be at Bronte Creek in September.

"My oncologist said I was fit enough to do the Tour de France."

Lance really is a hero, especially to those who have lived with the big C.

Wavy hair, eh? Cool. New look for a restored life! We're all interested in both restorations, keep us updated, Don.
Tom

Well, I am glad I asked.
