Triumph TR6 - door strap broke at door
After putting on a new door strap on my "72" it pulling away from the door. the bracket, that is the two loops on the door pulled out. Does anyone have any ideas on how to replace or probably weld up something. Are there any loops off of any other model that could be welded to the door? Would be great to get advice for a newbie. Thanks |

G Welcome to our group. You will find this BBS very informative with many users well versed in the issues with TR6s. I would think most any British Leyland vehicles from that era would have similar sized connection loops on the door (TR6 of any year, Spitfire, maybe MG). Or you could fabricate something yourself (or have a machine shop do) from some sheet metal and weld a patch on the door. Can you get the dimensions from the other door? I can grab the measurements for you if you need them. Other users of this BBS will chime in as well probably with even better information and if you become a member of this BBS (no cost) you can search the archives as well and maybe get some answers. regards Mike |

After searching the internet and looking at brackets I think I found one on a jeep cherokee 84-01. On order I I will see if I can adapt it.

So , you broke the part on the door? |

Obsolete Automotive in their last sales flyer had all the parts and clips for the door checkstrap on sale. You might want to give them a call. Syl |

all good. I bought a jeep door strap bracket and bolted it to the door. Put a backer plate and spacers inside the door for extra support. looks good. |
