Triumph TR6 - Extra Driving lights
Hi, I've bought some old style driving light for my TR6. In past time i've learned a lot from this forum, but electrical I'm not that great. What is the best way to connect the extra lights to get them working.I want to keep it simple: just one (hidden) switch under the dash to turn them on and of. No need for connecting with normal light or ignition. The light have only one red wire, I think the mounting on the bumper gets them earthed (?) Can anyone get me started? Thanks Eric |

Eric yup, the driving lights will (hopefully:) get ground from bumper. If not you can always add a ground wire to attachment point and run it to the ground point on the inner side of the front valance. You may have an empty fuse at the top of the block. It will not have power to it. You will need to make a very small jumper wire and get power from the Brown wire terminal side of the fuse block (this is supply side of the block). Do not take power from the Purple side (output side of the fuse block.....fused side). Keep the jumper wire on the same side of the fuse block and I suggest it to be a brown wire so it is known as a power wire. The Brown wire is direct battery connection. Then from the other side of the same fuse take a red wire to one side of your switch. The switch must be ground isolated. The other side of your switch is the red wire to the lights. Your done. Get correct fuse for the lights. Have fun Rick C |

Eric- My suggestion is run it through a relay. Another is wire it to the high beams. Best suggestion is contact the electrical guru, Dan Masters. He'll tell you how to wire it up properly. Don K. |

Thanks Rick. Its easier then I thought. I never Knew were to get the power from. When the light are working correct I'll let you know. One last question: how do I know what a correct fuse is in AMP's ? The light are (obviously) 12V, and 55 Watt. Is there a formula or so to calculate this ? (sorry if this is a stupid question !) |

Power = volts*amps, so the current draw will be 55/12 = 4.6 amp. I guess that's per light?? With a little fat in there - why not try a 15 amp fuse? Brent |

Thanks very much, Brent. :-) Eric |

Hi all, Light installed, I used spare fuse on fusebox. Light placed under the front bumper (old style, square, Lucas lamps). Needly hidden the wires. Also made a switch under the dash, next to the ignition (not visible). Looks and works great. Thanks for the advice. Eric |

Hi JW, I Bought the lights on a Dutch E-bay site called "Marktplaats.nl". The price I payed was 20 euro's, about $ 16,- for the pair. No bad, I think. Eric |
