Q: How many forum members does it take to change a light bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light
bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

1 to move it to the Lighting section

2 to argue, then move it to the Electricals section

7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

5 to flame the spell checkers

3 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to
condemn those 6 as stupid

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb"
is perfectly correct

19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this
discussion to a lightbulb forum

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs
and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum

36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy
the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique
and what brands are faulty

7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected
URL's

3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this
group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group

13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all
headers and signatures, just to add "Me too"

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot
handle the light bulb controversy

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about
light bulbs"

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start
it all over again
Rod Nichols

I'm having a hard time resisting the "me too" trick. Thanks Rod...for the chuckle.

That does sound like us, scary.
But I thought you guys said lite bulbs, goodnight.
Christopher Trace

I believe the proper spelling is "lyte"
D Hasara

Replacing light bulbs affects the originality of the car. I think the original lightbulbs should be rebuilt.

Tony
A. J. Koschinsky

A Lucas lytebulb that works and one that doesn't work.
Can you see a difference...?
Christopher Trace

Check this URL http://www.britishmiles.com/parts/llb319.html and you can spot the difference .... !

Erik
Erik Creyghton

I think that lyte bulb is only warranted to work until installed. You gotta read the fine print.
D Hasara

LOL. I almost hurt myself laughing at that rebuild the light bulb comment, Tony.
Brent B

Tony,
Whaddya think the core charge is on a "rebuildable" core??
Rod
Rod Nichols

Hey Erik - I guess you have to use two of those bulbs...wired in series of course!

Rod - Thanks for sharing that one

I still have a working Lucas bulb (at least it still worked when I replaced it!)
EC Smith

Jeff,
Can we assume your TR6 is still in Hawaii, or is it overheating in Iraq? If yer doing what I think, be careful, we don't need to lose any TR6 drivers!!!!

Rod

Could't get an Up-Armor kit for the TR6 so it stayed at Hickam. No worries - I'm just in the Green Zone advising the Army on airlift (I'm Air Force). It's fantastic being able to still keep up with the Triumph action via the internet (don't tell the Army). I'm making my parts list for a few projects so I can hit the road in June!
Jeff Fetner

Jeff,
Sounds like if you gotta be there, the green zone is the place to be. Stay safe and in touch, let us all know when you are back in Hawaii!

Rod

I'm glad Jeff thinks his car is safe here - the rest of us have been cannibalising it for parts - cheaper than Moss or TRF.

And I wouldn't be surprised if the wife said take the whole car and the closet full of junk...I mean valuable parts. Just have it back together by June. Hey Peter, you can pull the transmission while you're at it - I think its got the dreaded broken fork pin.
Jeff Fetner

Jeff:

Be safe - bad spot, that Iraq.
