Triumph TR6 - Found GL-4 Gear Oil in Canada (Although Synthetic)
Over the past couple of years I've been trying to find some GL-4 conventional gear oil in Canada, and have only come up with a 30Ltr. pail at the jobbers (which is too much for me). Over the years I've used 75/90 conventional & synthetic only too aware that the GL-5's have sulfur in them which is written as not being appropriate for tranny's with brass fittings. I finally found some Red Line 75/90 GL-4 in quart bottles, although synthetic. Time to jack the car again... |

AC Delco's SAE80w-90 GL4 gear oil works great. It comes in a 680ml. bottle and is available at any GM dealership. John. |

Shell Automotive lubricants "Dentex Automotive Gear Oil" SPECS: 80W-90 NON EP specifically for manual transmissions that call for "straight mineral" gear oils. Recommended for non-ferrous gears Meets API GL-1 BUT! only available in 20 L pail and is $CDN 2.25/L=$45.00 +taxes. I think I might have to break down and buy one...anyone interested in splitting it? You can get GL-4 non-synthetic at NAPA. I bought a case from them for my TR 6. Don't remember the price but do remember it was very reasonable. Just my 2 cents worth. |
