Triumph TR6 - Fuel Leak
I have a fuel leak on the bottom of the rear most Carb. I am unsure how to attack this leak. As I feel under the carb it feels like a slot for a screwdriver but I cannot find any mention of it in the manual. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to stop this leak? Thanks Don |

Yeah, first have no naked lights, then shut off the fuel!! Next remove the offending carburettor. The screw slot you feel is the plug for the float bowl. Likely you have a stuck metering needle, but maybe something else like a failed float not cutting off the fuel flow from the needle valve when it should. Or maybe something simple like a failed fuel line. Google CD 175 Carburettors and you'll find Nelson Riedel's article from BUCKEYE TRIUMPHS on how to overhaul a carburettor. His article complete with photographs will tell you everything you need to know to fix your leak and improve your carb. OR email me and I'll send you the articles (dbaker04ATaolDOTcom). Good luck. db |

Don The slot you feel is a threaded fitting that houses the fuel metering needle. You can remove it and install a new gasket (o-ring) on it or maybe all it needs is to be tightened. Fuel will pour out of the fuel bowl until empty if you remove it. However there may be other places it leaks- like the joint between the fuel bowl and carb. Or of the fuel shut off float is not stopping the fuel , the fuel may be coming out a vent hole. |
