Triumph TR6 - Fuel Tank Sending Unit
Does anyone know what the sequence is on installing gaskets for a new sending unit. Mine came with a rubber gasket and a cork gasket. Also, are any adhesives needed under the gaskets? Thanks in advance. Shawn |

Listening intently as I am about to do this. Shawn, did you replace the float with a Ford unit? |

Hi Don, I purchased the fuel tank kit from VB so I am not sure where they get their parts. My existing sending unit works now. I need to replace the tank so I thought I would update everything. Shawn |

So is the float original. Those things over time developed pin holes . They don't quite float then |

Don, The current float is likely original. Have not pulled tank yet. What is the situation with the Ford sending units? Shawn |

Metal one and inexpensive and a direct fit. I'll post the number later, gotta run. |

That is a heck of a long run Don! |

Shawn I just replaced the gaskets on my sending unit with a new cork one only. There are also 6 fiber gaskets that go on the screws for sealing. I am not aware of a rubber one. I purchased a gasoline resistant sealer made by Permatex Moto Seal 1 Ultimate gasket maker grey (from Canadian Tire which may not help you much but is probably available from any parts store) I put the liquid sealant on all surfaces (tank, both sides of gasket, float/sender unit) It seems to have sealed well. No gasoline odours (Canadian spelling)any more in the cockpit. I reused the original float and sending unit as it is still functioning well. Regards Mike |
