Triumph TR6 - Fuzzy Door Seal
There seems to be several different types of doors seals; velour, wool, bristle flex. Does anyone have a preference based on experience? Shawn 74.5 |

I have one suggestion Dang, can't find it. There is a company that sells prolly one of the nicer fuzzy seals. I think he is in Canada. Someone will help me out. |

I think Don is thinking of MacGregor: http://www.macgregorukcarparts.com/ For what it is worth, I bought the more expensive TRF option (before the cheaper option was available) and they went on well, look the part and seem to do the job. Cheers Alistair |

Thanks Alistair, that's him. |

Thanks for the info. Shawn |

Hi Shawn I live and work about 30 miles from MacGregor and have to be in that area usually once a month or so. Could use a trip to Mass. if you want me to pick up something and deliver it. Reasonable rates ;-) I bought my TR6 car mats off him. Black with Triumph TR6 emblem. Very nice quality. |

Sorry don't mean to hijack this thread but it is about the door seals. I note that there is the furflex seal that goes all the way up the side windshield a-post but there is another seal that in many parts catalogues is listed as a a-post seal. Do some models have both or one or the other? It's a bit confusing. Thanks |

The furflex seal on my 69 TR6 only goes from the bottom of the windshield/top of door (top of the A post) around the door frame up to the top of the B post) There is a rubber strip seal that is attached to the windshield frame that "seals" with the window. I highlight the "window seal" as it isn't the greatest seal fit against the window. I don't believe later models offered a furflex door seal from the top of the B post to the top of the windhield either but were the same as the 69. |

If I understand the question, mines a 71, and mine goes to the top.

Thanks Don. Thats what I was wondering. The seal goes all the way around door and up the b post. The po gave me the door deal but only enough to the bottom of the windshield for each door. There looks to be these small strips to seal the b post like Mike mentioned. Guess it time to place an order for a replacement seal. As an aside got the soft top seal to the wind shield in the soft rail. Man that took a lot of elbow grease and a bit of liquid wrench. |

Called Macgregor there is a second seal so the windshield post has a "P" shaped seal that is glued to it, and then the main seal goes over that and then rest of the way around the door frame. |

Thanks for additional feedback. Mike, thanks for your offer. Not sure when I will make the purchase at this point. Do want to investigate replacement closer. Was hoping for all one piece which is what I have now. Shawn. |

"Called Macgregor there is a second seal so the windshield post has a "P" shaped seal that is glued to it, and then the main seal goes over that and then rest of the way around the door frame. " HUH? |

Yup Don I was kinda surprised too. Apparently this "p" shaped seal is supposed to be factory standard. That is why I was confused, i kept seeing this second seal for the windshield post when i was looking at parts diagrams. The p seal is $23 ppr and the main fuzzy seal is $126 ppr. They also sell the all rubber main seal for about $70. Btw Don did the black seal you use need to be glued on or was it just "push on"? |
A Vandergoot |
To long ago to remember. Think I just stuck em on. Door keeps em on Are you saying there are 3 seals up there? |
Don Kelly |
Nope just 2. The "P" shaped seal that you glue to the windshield post and the fuzzy door seal. The Black all rubber seal I was refering to is the same as the fuzzy seal only all rubber and half the price. Sorry about the confusion. |
A Vandergoot |
My pic shows 2, not to clearly I guess, but 2 |
Don Kelly |
I glued the P shaped one to the windshield frame and pressed on the fuzzy seal.I am only aware of the 2 seals. |
