Triumph TR6 - General electrical component question
Trying to sort out my hazards/flashers and fuse box (yes I have the schematics)I need to know what these items are to make sense of the wireing. Looking over top of the left fender and under the hood. fwd to rear...first item Hazard flasher, fuse box, 2 relays stacked...I assume the top is the horn relay and the bottom the head light relay? In front of these 2 relays and mounted on the flat is a small two prong relay (similar in appearance to the hazard relay) mounted by 2 screws this relay is connected to a large solinoid box (I'm assumiong this is the starter relay...but then what is the smaller relay?) The smaller two pronged relay is brown in and brown to the large solinoid and is wired to the ignition hot on the fuse box. This brown wire is not shown on the schematic (the only brown on the fuse on the 74 schematic to fuse box is opposite the purples to hazard relay. Also does it matter which wire goes where on the hazard and blinker flashers? My hazard flasher is hot on both sides all the time regardless of switch position (new switch, flashers in route) Thanks |

What year TR6 do you have JT? My experience is with the 69 and I note the following. Sounds like you have overdrive- one of the the 2 relays beside the fuse box is for overdrive. The other is the hazard relay. There is no horn relay or headlight relay. I don't know about the relay on the flat. My windshield wiper motor is on the flat. There is nothing else there. A picture is worth a 1000 words. Can you take one and post it. The starter relay is on the starter motor on my 69 TR6 I don't think it matters which wire goes on where on the flashers. Mine is a 74. It has an overdrive switch on the stalk but the OD transmission is not in the car at this time. |

Anyone know which color wire on the hazard (74) gets the 'L' or the 'X' or does it matter. |

I'm fairly confident the large solenoid/two prong device on the flat were there for the A/C system...there was one on the opposite side that was for the compressor and I'm thinkg this one was for the aux fan that was in front of the condensor...I just disconnected it and the car started/ran fine. Now to sort out the hazard/turn signal wireing. |

Hi JT It sounds like the Overdrive relay was left behind then if your OD is gone. I would agree that the stuff on the flat is AC related. It is not stock TR6 stuff. By what do you mean the "L" or the "X" |

Michael, I figured it out. The TR6 diagram list 'L', 'B' the after market flasher lists 'L', 'X'....'L' being for 'load' in both cases. I substituted tridon 552 flashers to test things and all works fine (wih the exception that one of the tridon cases was shorted!) I've new TR6 flashers on the way plus a new hazard switch. |

JT, do you have a camera? We crave pics here. |
